Lapis Lazuli beads come in beautiful blues and greens and are often a favourite for jewellery making. The main component of these beads is Lazurite but most also contain sodalite, calcite and pyrite which gives its golden flecks. Good quality Lapis Lazuli is often slightly higher in value, so it is often imitated by more affordable stones such as sodalite or dyed jasper. Lapis Lazuli is said to be one of the first gemstones known to be used for jewellery. It is also known as the stone of friendship and truth.
Our Semi Precious Stones are genuine and natural unless they are stated to be synthetic in the description. However, you will find the vast majority of Semi Precious Stones are treated in some way, as they would not be stable enough for use in jewellery in their original state.
