Learn how to make individual wire wrapped droplets and make a pretty droplet necklace with matching earrings.

Step 1

Cut approximately 5" of wire and choose a tiger eye droplet bead. Thread your wire through the bead to its halfway point. Cross one side over the front of the bead and through the hole again. Cross the other side over the front and through the hole. Try and position your wires neatly so one sits slightly lower than the other, making a draped effect (see image).

Then twist your two wires together at the top of the bead. Wind one of these wires around the other and down towards the point of the bead. Trim this off after 4 or 5 wraps. Curl the 2nd wire into a small loop and then wrap this around the wire below the loop as you did with the other wire. Trim it off after 4 or 5 wraps.

Step 2

Repeat this for a total of 5 tiger eye droplet beads. You will use two to make a pair of earrings. To do this, simply attach a jumpring to the loop at the top of the droplet and link this to an earwire.

Step 3

To make your necklace, you will make a collection of beaded connectors. To do this, take an eyepin and thread on your chosen beads. We chose to use 3 beads on each pin. Trim the end of the pin down to 1cm long. Make a 90degree bend above the 3rd bead and turn a loop to match the other end of the eyepin.

Repeat this as many times as you want with different beads until you have lots of connectors to add to your necklace. We made 18 beaded connectors and 3 connectors with our 3 droplet charms in the middle.

Link these all together by opening a loop and attaching the next pin.

Step 4

Decide how long you want your necklace to be and cut 2 lengths of chain. These will go on either side of your beaded necklace section at the centre of your necklace. Attach your chain to the loop of your edge connectors and finally attach both sides of your clasp with a jumpring to the ends of the chains.
