Follow this step by step tutorial to make 3 lovely bracelets using Herringbone Weave and Right Angle Weave. Whether you wear them separately, or all together, the affect is equally pretty. Your colour and bead finish choices will greatly impact the look of your finished bracelets and so we encourage you to experiment to find a look that is uniquely yours. Ready? Let's Stitch!

Materials required:
Matubo GemDuo™ - 2 packs (GD)
TOHO™ Size 8 Seed Beads - 2 colours (TB1 & TB2)
Jewellery Making Findings Set
Bead Tray
Scissors
Needle
Beading Thread

Step 1

GemDuo Herringbone 

Thread approx. 1.5m of thread onto your needle. Leaving a 20cm tail, pick up 1 x GD, 1 x TB1 & 1 x GD.

Tip: Ensure the cushion of the GD bead is at the top every time you pick one up.

Pass through the top hole of the GD on the right.

Step 1

Step 3

Pick up 1 x GD, 1 x TB1 & 1 x GD and pass through the top hole of the first GD added. Pull snug.

Tie the working thread and the tail together with a double knot.

Pass through all of the beads again. Upon exiting the last GD added (top left), pass through the hole at the top of this bead.

Passing through the bottom holes of the GD beads, pick up 1 x GD, 1 x TB1 & 1 x GD.

Pass down through the top hole of the left GD of the previous row.

Pass through the top hole of the last GD added and pull snug.

Allowing 6cm for finishing, continue adding beads in this manner until the desired length is reached.

Pick up 3 x TB1, 1 small silver spacer bead, 1 calotte and 1 x crimp bead.

Skipping the crimp bead, pass back through the calotte and small spacer bead.

Pick up 3 x TB1 and pass through the top hole of the GD on the right.

Follow the bead path and pass back through all of the beads in this triangle just created, including the crimp bead. Repeat this step as many times as your beads and thread will allow. Tie off and trim the thread. This video can help with securing your threads.

Thread the tail onto your needle. Repeat steps 9 to 12 to finish the other end of the strap with a calotte in the same manner.

Seed Bead Right Angle Weave (RAW)

Thread your needle with approx. 1.5m of thread. Leaving a 20cm tail, pick up 4 x TB2. Pass back through all of them again, pulling snug.

Pick up 3 x TB1.

Pass back though the TB2 just exited, from the opposite direction.

Alternating between both colours of seed bead for each trio added and continue adding beads with this method until the desired length is reached. Not forgetting to allow 6cm for finishing.

Pick up 1 x TB1, 1 x small spacer bead, 1 x calotte and 1 x crimp bead.

Skipping the crimp bead, pass back through the calotte and small spacer bead. Pick up 1 x TB1.

Pass through the middle bead of the last trio added to the RAW strap.

Follow the bead path and pass back through all of the beads just added, including the crimp bead. Repeat this step as many times as your beads and thread will allow. Tie off and trim the thread.

Thread the tail left over from the beginning and repeat steps 17 to 20.

Seed Bead Herringbone

Thread your needle with 1.5m of thread. Pick up 1 x TB1 & 1 x TB2.

Pass back through the TB1 from the opposite direction.

Pass through both beads again and move them so that they sit side by side.

Pick up 1 x TB1 & 1 x TB2. Pass down through the first TB2 added.

Pass back up through the first TB1 added and the TB1 just added.

Pick up 1 x TB1 & 1 x TB2.

Pass back down through the TB2 added in the previous step.

Pass up through the TB1 from the previous row and the TB1 just added.
Continue adding beads in this manner until the strap is the desired length.
Again, allow 6cm for finishing.

Pick up 1 x TB1, 1 x small spacer bead, 1 x calotte and 1 x crimp bead.

Skipping the crimp bead, pass back through the calotte and small spacer bead just added.

Pick up 1 x TB2 and pass through the last TB2 added on the herringbone strap.

Following the bead path, pass through all the beads just added again, including the crimp bead.

Using pliers, add a jump ring to a lobster clasp, followed by another jump ring.

Join 2 jump rings together.

Using pliers, close all the calottes.

Add a clasp to each bracelet. Pick up the second jump ring added to the clasp with the calotte. Using round nose pliers, turn the calotte end into a ring.

Add jump rings to the other end of each bracelet. Pick up the second jump ring with the calotte. Using round nose pliers, turn the calotte end into a ring.
