Difficulty: Intermediate

Rating: 5 Stars

This beautiful design uses new Preciosa pip beads and seed beads to create a stunning floral theme. What will you wear your necklace with?

This design was created exlusively for Beads Direct by Bridge Parle. You can read more of her features in the BD Blog here.

You will need a needle for this design.

Step 1

Pick up 6 pip beads and 6 seed beads in the sequence 6 pips - 1 seed.

Step 2

Form a circle by passing through all the beads again, continuing on into the next seed bead.

Step 3

Pick up 17 seed beads, and coming back on yourself, pass back through the pip bead, the seed bead and on through the next pip and seed bead.

Step 4

When you have added the 5th petal, sew through as before, but continue on into the first 3 seed beads of the first petal you added.

Step 5

Pick up 11 seed beads and pass back through the last 3 seed beads of the previous (5th) petal. You now have finished your first flower. Sew through some beads and fasten off your thread. Repeat all steps to create 5 more flowers.

Step 6

Using co-ordinating jump rings, connect the flowers as shown in the picture.

Step 7

Make 4 little flowers by sweing 6 pip beads in a circle. Put to one side for now.

Step 8

To make the necklace chain, on a new piece of thread, pick up 3 seed beads and sew through the 3 corner beads as shown in the picture. Sew back up the opposite 3 beads and tie your thread in 2 knots.

Step 9

Pick up 30 seed beads and drop to the bottom of your thread. Now pass your needle through the centre of the pip flower you made earlier, pick up a size 6 seed bead, and pass back through the centre of your pip bead. Pull everything snug and add another 30 seed beads, another pip flower and lastly another 30 seed beads.

Step 10

Secure your end by passing through a wire guardian, then sew back through all your beads towards to centre of the necklace. When you get to the gap at the back of the pip flower, pick up 1 or 2 seed beads (depending on the size of the gap) and continue onto the necklace. Securely fasten your thread off, repeat on the opposite side. Add a clasp of your choice and you are finished!
