Learn how to make this dangley 'Rainbow Waterfall' necklace, using the pre seeded kumihimo braided cord and mixing in some semi precious stones. If you'd like a more advanced project you could braid the cord yourself.

P.S. You may want to purchase a looper if you do not already have this handy tool (W331).

Step 1

Take the pre seed beaded kumihimo cord or braid a 1m length and secure the ends.

Please note: If braiding your own cord you may wish to make 2 x 30cm lengths, see step 8.

Step 2

Fold the beaded cord in half and create a loop. See picture.

Step 3

Fold the ends of the cord round the back. See picture.

Step 4

Thread the ends down through the loop you have just created.

Step 5

Tighten the knot. Make sure your knot sits near the ends of your cord, leaving an inch or so to dangle. Now flip your cord over so that the back-side is now the front-side.

Step 6

Carefully remove the tape from one end of the cord. Remove approx. 1cm of beads from the end. Now either glue or stitch ALL ends together to ensure the beads are fixed. Be sure to catch all the threads so nothing unravels. Once dry or stitched securely, glue in to the end cap. Repeat on the other side.

Step 7

Use headpins and eyepins to create a dangle of beads from the end cap. Add a round bead, shamballa fashion bead and another round bead linked by eyepins and add a chip bead at the bottom using a headpin. Now connect other chip beads and round beads to each loop. Repeat on the other end.

Step 8

Find the centre of the loop that will go around the neck when wearing the necklace. Tape the beaded cord at this point and then cut through the centre of the taped section. Repeat the process outlined in step 6 to secure the cord and add the end caps. Attach the clasp using jump rings.

Please note: If creating your own braided cord you may wish to make it in 2 pieces.
