When you have been beading for a few years, it is easy to forget that the joys of your hobby have only just been discovered by some people. We received an email asking for suggestions for uses of our sumptuous Cat's Eye Cabochons. We are, of course, only too happy to oblige!
Today, Joanne shows you how easy it is to make a pretty pair of earrings using just a few components. Ready? Let's get Creative!
You can add all the items you need to your basket by clicking the box in the 'Products used' section above, or you can let your imagination run wild and choose your own materials from the links below. Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products Used List'.
- Bezel Cup Setting - x 2 - for a 12mm Cabochon. You could just use 1 and make a pendant if you refer.
- 12mm Cabochons x 2
- Earring Hooks - You could just make the 1 and use chain or cord to make a necklace if you prefer.
- Charms - x2 - Joanne used 21x19mm Wings Charms in Antique Bronze
- Jump Rings - approx. 6mm and no more than 0.8mm thick
- Pliers
We believe that jewellery should be as individual as you are and so our tutorials are for inspiration and learning purposes. They include links to the relevant categories for you to choose your own colour combinations and we positively encourage you to experiment with different shapes, sizes, finishes, composition and texture. Why not choose your own beads and colours to achieve something in your own style? Let your creative imagination run wild and make your dream piece of jewellery?

Step 1
Begin by adding your chosen cabochon to the Bezel Cup Setting. Add a tiny amount of glue to the bezel and push your cabochon into place. Allow to fully dry before continuing.
Step 2
Once dry, squeeze the prongs down onto the cabochon all the way around the bezel using pliers. You will only need to use gentle pressure to do this.
Be careful not to scratch the cabochon with the pliers.
Step 3
It is then time to attach your charm to the bezel. This is easily achieved with the use of a jump ring.
Step 4
Using 2 pairs of pliers or a jump ring tool, open the jump ring and attach your charm to the bottom hole of the bezel.

Step 5
And finally, twist open the loop of your earwire with pliers and attach it to the top loop on the bezel pendant. Twist the loop back to close.
Step 6
Repeat all steps to make your second earring and they are ready to wear!
Step 7
You can of course make it your own and choose a different cabochon and charms or turn it into a necklace by adding a split ring to the top of the bezel pendant, followed by a chain or cord.
