Learn how to make a pretty macramé bracelet with bicones and new glass beads from Preciosa.
Step 1
Cut two lengths of S-LON thread. One approx. 60cm and the other 1m. Secure the shorter thread from top to bottom on your Macrame board. Take the longer thread, find the middle and tie it to your central cord a third of the way from the top of your board.
Step 2
Start your macrame knotting by following these images.
- Take your right hand cord and pass it over the middle two cords.
- Next, take your left hand cord and place it over the right cord. Move the left cord under the centre cord and up through the middle of the loop on the right side.
- Pull the threads to finish one half of your knot.
- Repeat this process on the opposite side by starting by crossing the left hand cord over the middle cords.
This completes 1 square knot. Repeat 3 more times.
Step 3
It should look like this.
Step 4
Next thread a bicone on to the centre cord and create half a square knot around the bead.
Step 5
Continue to knot another 4 square knots, add another bicone and then make another 4 knots.
Step 6
Now add a square glass bead to your centre cord and knot around it like before. Make sure that the cords co behind the bead, rather than sitting around it.
Step 7
Finish the braid by mirroring the pattern of 4 square knots, bicone, 4 square knots, bicone, finishing with 4 more square knots. Once you have finished the last knot, move your work onto a paper surface and carefully apply a tiny drop of glue where the tail threads come out from the knot. Allow to dry before trimming away the tail threads.
Step 8
Take the 4 ends of the centre cords, lay them side by side and then do a macramé braid (approx. 4 square knots) for your sliding knot.Secure the ends with a drop of glue, being careful not to glue the sliding knot to the centre cords running through it (otherwise it will not be able to slide and adjust). Try gently pulling the centre cords through the sliding knot while the glue dries.
Trim the ends so the sliding knot is neat.
Step 9
Tie each tail ends in a knot to stop it sliding through the macrame knot.
