Get to grips with wire to make an Egyptian-inspired pair of earrings using our new malachite drop beads, a colour which represented joy. If you're new to using wire, you'll find this project quite easy to make with a little practice!
Cut a length of wire 12 inches in length. Thread your malachite drop, leaving 2 inches on one side. Bring both of the wires directly up so they sit vertically to the hole.
Take the longer wire and use your pliers to bend it to a 90 degree angle to the left. Leave the shorter wire straight up for now, as this will make the loop.
Take the longer wire and carefully wrap it down to the top of the drop. For a neater look, make sure the wire doesn't overlap.
Continue to wrap the wire until you have covered the hole.
Once you have approx. 1.5 inches remaining, take the tip of the wire with your round nose pliers. Twist the end around the pliers to form a tight loop.
Now take your flat nose pliers and turn the loop in an anti-clockwise direction on its self to make a spiral.
Use your pliers to carefully move the wire spiral to the centre of the drop, being careful not to snap the wire.
To make the bail, take your round nose pliers and grip the wire approx 1cm down the pliers. Bend the wire over them as pictured.
Change the position of your pliers to hold the loop from above. Take the end of the wire and wrap it to join up with the wraps you have already made. Trim any excess wire and tuck the end into the wrap.
Open a jumpring and attach the drop to an earwire.
