Step 1
Abbreviations:
- Ch – chain
- Slst – slip stitch
- Dc – double crochet
- single crochet Tr – treble
- double crochet YOH – yarn over hook
Step 2
Pick up the crystals directly onto the cord – you don’t need a needle, just cut the cord at an angle. (You blast the end of the cord with a steam iron then leave to cool to firm it up) Make a slipknot about 10 cm from the end of the cord.
Step 3
Ch 6, slst to first chain to make a ring.
Step 4
Ch 1, Dc 11 into the ring, slst to the Ch1. You should be able to count 11 stitches in the ring with the hook going through the 12th.
Step 5
Ch 3 (counts as 1st Tr, Tr into the next Dc (under both threads of stitch) . Ch 6.
Tr into next two Dc, Ch 6. Repeat from * another 4 times. Slst into the 2nd ch of Ch 3.
Step 6
Ch 1 then **Dc into the 3rd ch of the Ch 3 (!st Tr). Tr 4 into the 6ch loop keeping stitches on first half.
Step 7
Ch 1 then drop a crystal down to the hook. YOH and pull the cord through the loop to capture the crystal.
Slst to the Ch 1 under the crystal. Tr 4 into 6 Ch loop keeping stitches on the second half to complete point.
Step 8
Repeat from ** to work the next four points of the snowflake. On the last point you will add a hanging loop.
Step 9
Dc into the top of the next between next two Tr. Tr 4 into the last 6 Ch loop.
Ch 20. Drop a crystal down to the hook, then slst to the 1st ch in the Ch 20.
Step 10
Tr 4 down the side of the last point to complete the snowflake. Slst into the first Dc. Pull the cord through to secure.
Step 11
Pick up a crystal on the tail in the middle of the snowflake. Use a needle so sew in both ends so that the crystal sits in the centre hole.
Step 12
Pin the snowflake out on an ironing board so that the crystals all sit straight. Blast with steam from an iron and leave to cool.
