Join Leah and she will show you how to create this cute macramé seashell necklace. Feel free to adapt the design by braiding the whole length of ball chain and adding more 6mm seamless rounds to the centre. The choice is yours...  Ready? Let's Get Creative!

You can add all the items you need for the necklace to your basket by clicking the box in the 'Products used' section above, or you can let your imagination run wild and choose your own materials from the links below. Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products Used List':

We believe that jewellery should be as individual as you are and so our tutorials are for inspiration and learning purposes. They include links to the relevant categories for you to choose your own colour combinations and we positively encourage you to experiment with different shapes, sizes, finishes, composition and texture. Why not choose your own beads and colours to achieve something in your own style? Let your creative imagination run wild and make your dream piece of jewellery?

Step 1

With your side cutters, cut the ball chain to your desired length. My necklace chain measures 50cm in length. Cut 60cm of cord, find the half way point on the cord and place it under the ball chain.

Step 1

Step 2

I started braiding on the ball chain 20cm down from the end of the chain. With your left-hand cord place it over the ball chain to the right-hand side. With your right-hand cord, place it under the left-hand cord and center cord. Pull both cords in opposite directions to create a half square knot, Repeat again on the right-hand side to create a full square knot.

Here is a link to a video tutorial to show you the macramé technique.

Continue braiding until you have a further 3cm length braid. The braided part with the beads measures 10cm in total. Cut the braiding cord and slightly singe/glue in place.

Now to add the shell charm, attach a jump ring onto the shell charm and close the ring. Find the central part of your necklace and attach another jump ring to the hole in one of your 6mm round beads and attach onto the jump ring on your charm, close the ring. Use the ball chain clasp and click both ends of the chain into it.

Your necklace is now complete.
