Step 1
Firstly, on an arm's length of thread, pick up 4 x CB. Sew through them twice and tie firmly with a couple of knots to keep everything secure.
Step 2
Then, pick up 1 x SB and sew through the next CB.
Step 3
Next, repeat step 2 three more times. Finish by exiting any SB.
Step 4
After that, pick up 6 x MC, 1 x SB, 6 x MC. Pass the needle into the SB on the other side of your piece, entering it from the opposite direction from which we exited in step 3.
Step 5
Then, pick up 6 x MC and sew through the central SB, giving the thread a gentle little tug to jiggle everything to sit nicely into place.
Step 6
Following this, pick up 6 x MC and sew through the SB which we exited in step 3. Again, get the beads sitting nicely into place to make the piece look tidy.
Step 7
Carefully, sew through all of the MCs again for tidiness. Exit through any SB.
Step 8
Next, pick up 10 x MC and sew through the next outer SB (depending on your selection of beads you may need to vary this amount).
Step 9
Repeat step 8 three more times. Then, sew through all of the outer MCs again for tidiness.
Step 10
Then, repeat steps 8 and 9 with AC (you may need a couple more AC). And another round of MC. There with then be 3 sets of seed beads surrounding the piece.
Step 11
Now, turn over your work and complete steps 4 to 6 on the other side of the piece.
Step 12
Then, in any direction, sew through the next set of MC stopping when we reach the SB.
Step 13
The next few steps will fully surround the main ceramic beads with circles of MC. So, pick up (approximately) 8 MC and sew through any other MCs which are already surrounding this CB so it is totally enclosed (you may need to alter the amount of MCs at this stage.
Step 14
Carefully, sew through all MCs in this circle again for neatness. Sew through the next SB.
Step 15
Then, sew through the outer MCs around the next CB.
Step 16
Next, pick up approximately 8 MC and sew through the rest of the MCs surrounding this CB.
Step 17
Taking care to keep everything neat, sew through the following SB and into the next set of outer MC.
Step 18
Continue by surrounding the remaining two CBs using the same method.
Step 19
Now, to tidy the centre of the piece, sew through any of the MCs towards the central SB, until you have passed through the two MCs nearest to it (as in the photograph).
Step 20
Then, pick up 1 x AC and sew through two MC from the next CB.
Step 21
Continue by working around the central SB, sewing through two MC and picking up 1 x AC, three more times. Sew around this central ring several times for neatness.
Step 22
Finally, sew through any MCs towards an outer SB. Pass the needle through it and pick up 10 x MC and a jump ring. Sew through the SB and MCs several times for strength. Your pendant is now ready to wear when you have attached a chain, ribbon or choker.
