If you want to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a purse friendly make, follow my tutorial to make a very patriotic set. Alternatively, you could change the colour scheme to match your favourite outfit. Either way, Happy Beading!

You can add all the items you need to your basket by clicking the box in the 'Products used' section above, or you can let your imagination run wild and choose your own materials from the links below. Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products List'.

Remember - our tutorials are for inspiration and learning purposes. They include links to the relevant categories for you to choose your own colour combinations and we positively encourage you to experiment with different shapes, sizes, finishes, composition and texture. Why not choose your own beads and colours to achieve something in your own style? Let your imagination run wild and make your dream jewellery.

Step 1

Firstly, we are going to begin with the bangle which is made from lots of little connected elements. On about 1m of thread, pick up four SD and four PR alternately.

Step 1

Step 2

Then, sew through all eight beads a second time. Exit from any SD and secure with two knots.

Step 1

Step 3

Next, sew into the other hole of the SD your thread is exiting. Pick up one PR between each pair of SD.

Step 1

Step 4

After that, sew through all beads mentioned in step 3 again, pulling the thread so that the beads form a little tube. Exit from any SD.

Step 1

Step 5

Following that, pick up PW, PR, PW and sew into the next SD.

Step 1

Step 6

Repeat step 5 three times, exiting from any third PW.

Step 1

Step 7

Then, pick up two PW and sew through the following group of PW,  PR, PW.

Step 1

Step 8

Repeat step 7 three times, exiting after two PW.

Step 1

Step 9

Next, pick up one PB and sew through 2PW, PR, 2PW.

Step 1

Step 10

Repeat step 9 three times. Sew through all four sides of your element again for neatness. Tie off any loose threads on the flatter side which is the reverse.

Step 1

Step 11

To lengthen the bangle, repeat steps 1-10, but when adding the final PB, we will use one from the previous element as in the photograph.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 12

Continue repeating steps 1-11 to lengthen your bangle. I used sixteen elements to make mine.

Step 1

Step 13

Then, when your bangle is the correct length, you will need to utilise a PB from either end of your piece so far to join it together, making sure it is not twisted.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 14

Next, exiting any PB which is not used to join the elements together. Pick up the sequence PW,  PR, PW, 2PB, PW, PR, PW. Sew into the following non joined PB.

Step 1

Step 15

Continue around the bangle repeating step 14.

Step 1

Step 16

Then, sew through to the other edge of the bangle and complete it as in steps 14-15. Your bangle is now finished.

Step 1

Step 17

If you wish to make the earrings, follow steps 1-10, however, before tying off the loose threads, exit from any PB. Pick up PB, ear wire, PB then sew again into to PB in your element.

Step 1

Step 18

After that, sew through the three PB and the ear wire again. Pick up two more PB on either side of the ear wire for strength and neatness. Tie off any loose threads.

Step 1

Step 19

Finally, make a matching earring.
