Information about this project
Designed by: Alicja Czapla
We haven’t had rivoli's on our design centre for a long time! Alicja Czapla decided to solve this and she prepared an earrings with crystals tutorial. She used NIB-BIT beads. Thanks to them you can make the earrings really quickly and even those of you who have just started their beading adventure should be able to make them without a problem. We hope you can find some spare time and make a pair for yourself. Let’s do this!
Supplies used in this project:
- 14 mm rivoli crystals – 2 pieces
- NIB-BIT beads – almost 2 packets
- Czechmates Triangle – almost 1 packet
- 15/0 TOHO
- Tassels, here: 10 mm thick
- end caps for tassles – I used 9 mm surgical steel ones
- earwires – I recommend surgical steel ones
- 6 mm open jump rings – 2 pieces
- Beading thread – I recommend KO or One-G
- needle, scissors, pliers to attach the jump rings and earwires, glue or colourless nail polish to secure the knot
We hope you make plenty of colourful earrings that will be admired by your friends. Shall we begin?
If everything is prepared, let’s start playing.
IMPORTANT! Pull the thread tight all the time.
Step 1
String 1 TOHO and 1 NIB-BIT alternately. Pass through the bottom holes of the beads (where the bead is narrow).
Step 2
Keep stringing until you have 8 pieces of each beads strung
Step 3
Pass the needle through all of the beads once again.
Step 4
Pull the thread tight and tie a knot.
Step 5
Pass the needle through the top hole of a NIB-BIT bead, as shown in the picture.
Step 6
Add 1 Triangle bead between the NIB-BIT beads. Remember to string them the same side up each time, so that the holes are on the same side.
Step 7
As you have added all of the Triangle beads between NIB-BIT beads, pass the thread so that it comes out of the bottom hole of a Triangle bead.
Step 8
Add NIB-BIT beads between the Triangle beads passing the thread through the wider side of the beads.
Step 9
Place the crystal while adding the beads in this row.
Step 10
Continue until you have completed the whole row.
Step 11
Pass through the bottom hole of a NIB-BIT bead. Add 15/0 TOHO beads between the NIB-BITs.
Step 12
Remember to pull the thread tight. As you have completed this row, pass the needle through TOHO and NIB-BITs once again.
Step 13
Pass the needle towards the front of the earring so that it comes out of a Triangle bead.
Step 14
String 7 TOHO beads and pass through the next Triangle.
Step 15
Pass the needle through 3 NIB-BITs and 1 Triangle and string 7 TOHO again.
Step 16
Pass the needle towards the tail thread to tie a knot. Tie a knot and hide it in a bead or secure it with glue. Attach the earwires and tassels – the earrings are finished.
Thanks to Alicja you now know how to make earrings with rivoli. As you can see, MATUBO beads provide lots of possibilities. All you need to do is let them take you. So? Would you like to try?
