Ceramics are one of the beloved materials of handmade jewellery. Ceramic beads are so unique and you will not find two of the same beads. They will always differ at least a little in shape, enamel shade, delicate discolorations etc. Often irregular shape or unusual colours become an inspiration for the jewellery maker to create unique designs. Marta shares with you a step by step tutorial on how to make jewellery using ceramic beads. Let's get started.

Materials required:
Ceramic beads - cylindrical
Waxed Jewellery cord - Mcord™ 1.5mm
Cord ends - with a 9mm hole
Jump rings 10mm
Lobster clasp
Chain
Thread - we will tie the ends of the string with them to make it easier to paste the tips, so any type of thread will be fine.
Jewellery Glue
Bead Mat or Tray
Scissors
Pliers

Our tutorials are for inspiration and learning purposes. They include links to the relevant categories for you to choose your own colour combinations and we positively encourage you to experiment with different shapes, sizes, finishes, composition and texture. Why not choose your own beads and colours to achieve something in your own style? Let your imagination run wild and make your dream piece of jewellery.

Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products List'.

Step 1

We begin by cutting the string for the necklace. We prepare sections about 48cm long. The number of sections depends on the inner diameter of the tips you plan to use. I was able to fit 28 strings into my cord ends that have a 9mm hole.

We collect all the strings in a bunch, trying to arrange their ends evenly.

Step 1

Step 2

The seemingly simple task of gluing the tips, with so many strings, becomes a little more complicated. Individual threads tend to eject and run away from the tip. For this reason, we must first secure the ends. How do I do this?  I usually wrap the ends of the string with a thin thread to keep them in place.

Step 1

Step 3

We tie the ends of the thread in a strong knot. Now we can align the ends of the cord. It is important that the scissors you use are very sharp. If you start pulling the cord with blunt scissors, the threads will come out of the weave.

Step 1

Step 4

The ends are aligned, so we can put on the cord ends. We apply glue to the ends of the strings, we also lubricate the inside of the cord end.

Step 2

Step 5

After the glue dries, we put three ceramic beads on the cord. We tie the other end of the cord with a thread, trim the ends and glue the tip in the same way as the first.

Step 2

Step 6

All that remains is to attach the clasp, the adjustment chain is optional. You may need to cut the chain to your required size.

Step 7

The necklace is now complete :) You should have enough products left over to create a matching bracelet.

We hope you enjoyed this tutorial, feel free to share your designs with us on our Facebook group. We would love to see them :)
