How to make a memory wire bracelet - Jewellery making tutorial

Are you a fan of Memory Wire bracelets? Join me in this tutorial in which I will show you step by step how to create this pretty memory wire bracelet using different types of beads and charms. The possibilities are endless as you can choose whatever type of bead you like in any shape, size or colour to create a bracelet unique to you. Let's get started!

To make the bracelet as above you will need;

Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products List'.

Designed by Olivia - February 2021

Step 1

Where to begin?

Measure out the appropriate length of the memory wire. I decided to cut out 10 coils, because I’m not sure how much wire will suffice my amount of beads. You can always shorten the wire, but there can be a problem to make it longer.

Step 1

Step 2

Cut the wire, so that the beginning and the end are placed at same point of the circle.

Step 1

Step 3

You’re going to thread your beads onto the wire soon, so you need to secure its end. You need to make a loop using the round nose pliers. The memory wire is quite hard, so you need to use force.

Step 1

Step 4

Bend the wire with the pliers. I always use my left hand fingers to press the wire to wrap it around the pliers.

Step 1

Step 5

This is what an almost finished loop looks like – all you need to do is press it with the flat nose or flat side pliers.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Step 6

You can now start threading the beads. I start my bracelet with blue beads and slide them down the spring. I thread 10 blue beads followed by 1 silver spacer bead. I repeat this 7 times.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 7

Next I thread the green Toho beads. Like the blue beads, I thread 10 green beads followed by a spacer bead, I do this 7 times.

Step 1

Step 8

Next is the Crystalove rondelles. We thread these as in the previous steps (10 rondelles, 1 spacer), however this time after we have threaded 3 lots of 10 crystalove rondelles we add a charm carrier. To the charm carrier we then attach a jump ring using our pliers, and to the jump ring we attach our first charm - I chose the Glamm Spotlight Charm Pendant. After this, we continue to thread 2 more lots of 10 rondelles/spacer beads which altogether creates 5 sets of 10 rondelles in this circle. The reason we added less sets on this round is because the rondelles are larger beads.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4

Step 9

We are now threading our pink Toho beads. This time we thread 10 beads followed by 1 spacer and we repeat this 7 times. See the image below.

Step 1

Step 10

Now we are using our CrystaLove faceted rounds in blue. As these beads are larger than the previous beads we have threaded, we only need to thread 5 sets of 5 beads followed by 1 spacer bead.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 11

Next we thread on our CrystaLove rondelles in silver. We thread 10 rondelles followed by 1 spacer bead. Then we are adding our second charm, so first thread on your charm carrier, use your pliers to open a jump ring and attach your hummingbird charm to the charm carrier. We then continue with the CrystaLove silver rondelles and 1 spacer bead for a further 6 sets.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4

Step 12

Following on from step 11 we are now adding our Toho purple seed beads. We add 10 seed beads followed by 1 spacer bead. Repeat this 7 times.

Step 1

Step 13

Next we add further CrystaLove clear rondelles. The sequence is 10 x Rondelles, 1 x spacer 5 times. At the end of the clear rondelles we add another charm, so thread on your charm carrier, open your jump ring and attach the butterfly charm.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 14

Finally thread on the green firepolish beads in the following sequence - 5 x FP, 1 X Spacer (8 times). Cut off any excess wire and repeat step 1 by creating a loop using your round nose pliers with the end of the wire, this will hold your beads in place. Your bracelet is finished!
