Learn how to make earrings on a geometric drop base. Geometric shaped bases give an infinite number of wonderful possibilities. This time, Ania will show you how to make these beautiful leaf earrings, switch the colours to make something personal to you or match the colours with your favourite winter jumper. 

They look impressive don't they? Let's start stitching. 

Materials needed:
Geometric base drop 25mm
Jump Rings 5mm
Earwires 
TOHO™ Treasures in one colour. Also known as T1 in the instructions.
TOHO ™ round  size 11/0  in 5 colours from darkest to lightest. Also know as T2, T3, T4, T5, T6 in the instructions.
Jewellery thread
Needle
Scissors
Pliers to open the jump rings

To braid the base, we use toho treasure beads (brick stitch).

We cut about 0.5m of thread and attach to the base. We thread on 2 x T1

We put the thread under the base and thread into the bead from the bottom.

We take another bead, pass the thread under the base and thread into it from the bottom. We repeat this step until the base is braided (39 beads)

We thread 2 x T1, thread into 1 bead of our work, put the thread under the base and enter it from below.

We pass with a thread through the first peak bead, thread 1 T1 and pass through the second peak bead. We fasten the thread, thread through several beads and cut off excess thread.

The base is ready so it's time to make a leaves from beads toho 11/0, peyote stitch according to the diagram.

Cut just over 2m  of thread. We thread on 1 x T3 and tie the knot, we put on 2 x T4, 5 x T5, 3 x T6 in turn.

We insert the needle into two beads T5

We put on 1 x T5 and pass through the second T5 in a row, put on 1 x T4 and thread into every second bead. When the thread will come out of the first bead of our work, we thread 2 x T2 and pass through T3, as in the photo.

We thread 1 x T3 we pass through a detruding bead, then 1 x T4, the thread should come out of the top bead. We thread 1 x T5 and 5 x T6.

We insert the needle into the fourth T6 and wrap, put on 1 x and thread into the T5 of the previous row.

We work according to the diagram, the red line shows what is the order of the beads and the direction of conducting the thread.

This is how our work should look.

We leave with a thread from the first peak bead (marked in red in the photo) and acquire 1 x T2 and pass through the second peak bead.

In the photo, a bead (blue) is marked from which the thread should come out, we acquire 1 x T2 and thread from below into the bead with a yellow peak dot.

We repeat steps 14 and 15 so that we pass through all the peak beads, keeping sure that the thread is stretched, then our needlework will wrinkle.

We thread the thread so that it comes out of the last sewn bead towards the center of work.

Now we need to sew the leaf to the base.

We insert the needle from the bottom in 15  T1 on the base then from above we pass through 14 bead, pass through the peak in the leaf and again in 15 T1.

We insert the needle in 16 T1, pass through another peak in the leaf and enter the 17 T1 base, now we come out of 18 T1, we pass through the peak (leaf) and enter in 19 T1. Then we thread the thread through 21 T1 and repeat. It is necessary to remember that the thread is tight.

When all the peak beads are sewn to the base, the thread should come out of the top of the 26 T1 bead, we thread the thread through 27 T1 so that it comes out the low.

We stride 1 T1 enter the peak leaf, repeat this step twice, then take 2 T1, then again after 1 T1. Now we enter from below in 13 T1 on the base and back the thread to 14 T1. We enter the beads in the leaf and fix with a knot, thread through several beads and cut the thread.

Now we fasten the earwire. We open the jump ring, we put on the base and the earwire, we close the jump ring. This earring is now ready, we repeat all the steps to make a second one.
