Difficulty: Beginner
Together with Paula Banaszak, we invite you to a jewellery making tutorial. We will show you how to easily make earrings using the CZECHMATES™ Daggers, Firepolish ™ and TOHO ™ beads. This design is ideal for beginners who want to try their hand at creating jewellery from small beads. An additional advantage of this design is that the length of the earrings can be freely modified.
Materials needed:
Earwires - gold
TOHO ™ round beads - size 11/0 in almond
Firepolish ™ beads - 4mm in smoky topaz
CZECHMATES™ beads - Daggers 5/16mm capri gold
Jewellery thread - Miyuki thread or monofilament thread 0.2
Jewellery needle - John James 10/13
Scissors
Pliers to help connect the earwires to your design
Our tutorials are for inspiration and learning purposes. They include links to the relevant categories for you to choose your own colour combinations and we positively encourage you to experiment with different shapes, sizes, finishes, composition and texture. Why not choose your own beads and colours to achieve something in your own style? Let your imagination run wild and make your dream piece of jewellery.
Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products List'.
Step 1
Cut about 40-50cm of thread. Thread 4 toho rounds (TR), 1 firepolish (FP), 4 toho rounds.
Pass the needle through all the beads again to form a circle.
Step 2
Tie the ends of the thread with a double knot.
Step 3
Pass the needle through the beads so that the thread comes out of the FP bead.
Step 4
Thread 2TR, 1Dagger, 1TR, 1Dagger, 2TR and go through the FP bead.
Step 5
Go through the circle formed by the beads just added again. The thread must come out of the Dagger bead.
Step 6
Go through the lower Dagger hole, from which the thread comes out of.
Step 7
Add 1 FP and go through the bottom hole of the second Dagger bead.
Step 8
Again, go through the circle formed by the beads just added until the thread comes out of the FP bead.
Add 2TR, 1Dagger, 1TR, 1Dagger, 2TR again and go through FP.
Step 9
Go through the circle formed by the beads just added so that the thread comes out of the Dagger bead.
Step 10
Go through the bottom dagger hole, add an FP bead and pass through the lower hole of the dagger
Step 11
Go through the circle formed by the beads just added again, ensuring your thread exits the FP.
Step 12
Add 2TR, 1 Dagger, 1TR, 1Dagger, 2TR and go through FP.
Step 13
Go through the circle formed by the beads just added. The thread must come out from the side of the Dagger bead.
Step 14
Pass the needle through the lower hole of the Dagger bead (the same one from which the thread comes out of).
Step 15
Add 2 Daggers. With the needle go through the bottom hole of the previously added Dagger (as in the photo).
Step 16
Go through the circle formed by the beads just added again and continue round and down a step until your thread exits the lower hole of a dagger (see image).
Step 17
Add 1 (last) Dagger. With the needle go through the bottom hole of the adjacent bead (as in the photo).
Go through all of the beads just added again until your thread exits the last dagger added.
Step 18
Now secure the thread by creating a knot. Pass your needle between two dagger beads and thread. Pull until there is a loop of thread. Pass the needle through this loop and pull thread tight. Pass through the next dagger and repeat. Tie off in this manner several times and trim the thread.
Step 19
Attach the earwires by lightly bending the eye, put on the design and gently squeeze the eye together to close and secure it.
Step 20
This is what your finished earrings should look like! As I wrote at the beginning, the length of the braid depends on you. I am very curious about your versions of Dagger earrings :) feel free to share them on our Facebook group!
