How to make a Crystal Links Necklace and Bracelet - step by step tutorial
Designed by: Mada Miotk
Difficulty: Beginner
Mada Miotk presents to you a crystal links necklace and bracelet set, perfect for that special occasion. Are you thinking about New Year's Eve yet? Well, this design is perfect to stand out at any party.
New Year's Eve is the one time a year when everything should shine. And nothing glistens more beautifully than handmade jewellery! ;) I prepared for you today a tutorial on how to make jewellery using the sparkly CrystaLove ™ beads, which will be perfect for an evening occasion ... and not just for New Year's Eve. A bracelet and necklace made of beautifully shimmering crystals is also a great idea for a gift.
Supplies
- CrystaLove ™ 8x6mm rondelle crystals
- CrystaLove ™ 6x4mm rondelle crystals
- CrystaLove ™ 3x4mm rondelle crystals
- CrystaLove ™ 4mm faceted round
- Eyepins a length of min. 30mm.
- Headpins a length of min. 30mm.
- Calottes - 3mm
- Crimps - 2mm
- Jump rings in 5mm and 7mm sizes
- Jewellery wire - size 0.30mm or 0.38mm
- Clasp - I used a toggle clasp the bracelet and a lobster clasp for the necklace
Step 1
To make the necklace - We put one of the 6x8mm rondelle CrystaLove beads onto an eyepin.
Step 2
We bend the eyepin at a 90-degree angle and cut with pliers.
Step 3
Make a loop with the stork with round nose pliers.
Step 4
Place another bead on an eyepin and repeat the above steps. Connect the two eyepins together.
Step 5
Continue with this process and attach the next 6x9mm rondelles in the same way.
Step 6
We continue until our base has the right size/length - for me it measures 16cm. It is important that the number of beads is even - for me it is 14 crystals for the necklace.
Step 7
Find the center of our crystal "string" and place a 7mm jump ring between the beads. It is important not to attach the jump ring to the loops of the eyepin - the jump ring should move loosely between the beads.
Step 8
In the same way we place two more rings on each side - they will be the base for hanging elements of the necklace.
Step 9
Using another eyepin attach the 8x6mm crystal to the middle circle.
Step 10
We attach another 8x6mm crystal and one 6x4mm crystal.
Step 11
In a similar way, we attach more crystals to neighboring circles, gradually reducing the size of the crystals.
Step 12
Between the crystals on the necklace attach smaller jump rings - for me it is 5mm.
Step 13
The jump rings should now be between all the beads.
Step 14
We put a crystal on a headpin and bend to make a loop.
Step 15
We repeat the whole process with other beads.
Step 16
This is the most labor-intensive part of our project, especially for smaller crystals, but it's worth getting tired, because the effect is amazing ;)
Step 17
Begin by attaching the crystals to all links, using smaller sizes of crystals closer to the end of the string.
Step 18
... And then it's just bead freestyle;). We attach crystals in different places, connecting them not only to the links, but also to the eyepin loops between the beads.
Step 19
We add more crystals until the entire bottom of the necklace has the volume that satisfies us. Depending on the number of beads you add, you can achieve completely different results. I also decided to finally extend the hanging parts. For ease of use, you can temporarily attach large jump rings (e.g. 10mm) or safety pins at the ends of the rope to make it easier to hold the rope when installing the beads.
Step 20
Cut approximately 20cm of wire or cord and attach to your necklace using a calotte and a crimp bead.
Step 21
Thread small 3x4mm crystals on to the cord.
Step 22
The length of the crystal cord depends on the length of your necklace. For me it is about 12cm. Attach a calotte to the end and then a jump ring.
Step 23
In the same way we assemble a string of beads for the other side.
Step 24
Attach a lobster clasp using a calotte and jump ring.
Step 25
And your fantastic necklace is ready.
Step 26
The bracelet to the set is made just like the necklace - you want need jewellery cord for the bracelet just link the bracelet using eyepins.
