Magnetic slide clasps are so much easier to close than traditional lobster clasps. However, not everyone chooses them due to the lack of ideas on how to use them. That’s why Paula comes with help and she will show you how to make a bracelet with a magnetic clasp. In addition, she will use TOHO Treasure beads which don’t need to be used in the more advanced projects. They also make perfect, beautiful and easy to make jewellery. So, let’s do this!
Supplies used in this project:
- several colours of TOHO Treasure beads
- jewellery wire
- magnetic slide clasp with several strands
- crimp beads
- some decorations, e.g. a charms or tassels + jump rings
Let’s do this!
Cut the jewellery wire into (at least) 8 pieces. Length – wrist circumference + 10 cm extra at each end.
Take the clasp.
Take 1 piece of jewellery wire and 1 crimp bead.
Attach the jewellery wire to the clasp so that the wire passes through the crimp bead twice. Flatten the crimp bead tightly. Check if the crimp bead doesn’t move. If not, you may cut the excess wire.
Attach the other pieces of jewellery wire in the same way.
As you have attached all of the pieces of the jewellery wire, it’s time to string the beads. I strung a different colour onto each wire.
As you have strung the beads, string a crimp bead at the end of the jewellery wire so that the beads won’t slide. We will connect the wires with the other side of the slide clasp when all the beads are strung.
String the beads onto the other jewellery wires.
When all the beads are strung, it’s time to attach the jewellery wires to the clasp.
We will do it crosswise. If there is e.g. a blue colour on one end of the clasp, attach the other end to the bottom loop of the other side of the clasp.
Take the crimp bead off, string another crimp bead, pass the jewellery wire through the loop, the crimp bead and several TOHO beads. Flatten the crimp bead and cut the excess wire.
Attach the rest of the wires in the same way.
Attach the decorations you have prepared.
And it’s finished! I told you it would be fast, didn’t I?
