Boho style earrings are a must have accessory for the summer! An accessory that you can easily make yourself. This tutorial is thanks to Paula Ziemska, who will guide you through creating these earrings step by step. Paula will show you how to make earrings in the most fashionable shade of green this year! Let's stitch :)

Materials needed;

Earring bases - round earring base approx 37mm

Suede straps or flat leather - sizes 3 × 1.5mm, in various colours

Jump rings - 4mm

Chain -  2.5 x 2mm

TOHO beads - size 11/0

Seamless round spacer beads - 6mm, it's important the hole is about 2mm

Pendants - delicate stainless steel pendants are an optional decoration for our earrings. We have dragonflies with dimensions of 12mm x 12mm x 1mm

Studs with a loop or earwires

Tools - Pliers and scissors

Step 1

At first, the strips of 95cm long cord are cut into 4 parts (in half and the other halves the same).

Step 1

Step 2

Then, on each strip, cut the ends diagonally - thanks to this, it will be easier for us to push the straps through the rounds.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Now we are going to pull the straps through the rounds. We grab the 2 ends of the strap (already cut) and thread them through the hole of the round.

Step 1

Step 4

Push the bead up the cord so that at the end we have a small loop entrance for the base of the earring.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 5

Do not worry if the end of the strap breaks during the process, or if you cut the ends incorrectly - the length of the strap provides for corrections, and in the last phase we will shorten it anyway :). Now let's start our base.

Step 1

Step 6

Thread about 28 11/0 TOHO beads on the earring base.

Step 1

Step 7

Then thread on the first cord. After the cord, add a TOHO 11/0 bead and then another strap again.

Step 1

Step 8

We repeat this sequence for 5 colours of the leather cord.

Step 1

Step 9

After the last strap, we thread 28 11/0 toho beads again. It is important to leave about 5-7 mm of free wire at the end of the base, which will be used to secure the work.

Step 1

Step 10

We are slowly coming to the end. As I wrote - we pull the empty end of the base through its entrance, and bend the excess down. Thanks to this, the earring will not open.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 11

The base is ready, we can now add the finishing touches. From our chain, cut 4 pieces of about 2 cm. Add the first dragonfly on the first link. The second link is attached to the chain. Use jump rings to do this.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Step 12

We add the third link on which we put a chain with a dragonfly, and then alone without any pendant.

Step 1

Step 13

Now we will add decorations based on the earring. We pass a link through the opening at the top of the base and close it with pliers.

Step 1

Step 14

We attach the ear stud or earwire (assembled through the jump ring).

Step 1

Step 15

We try on the earring and verify the length of the straps we want to get - a lot depends on the length of your neck, so in this case, let each of us choose the length individually.

Step 1

Step 16

When we know how many cm we need, cut the strings evenly and trim the ends diagonally again.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 17

Of course, the lengths do not have to be identical - it's sometimes nice when the strings are slightly staggered! Anyway, this is the end of our work! Happy creating!
