I present you my next tutorial. What are we going to learn this time? Something connected with food. I must admit, my initial idea was to show how to make a beaded doughnut, but my needle defeated me. We need to postpone the doughnut or settle for those from a bakery. In the meantime, we will make something healthier. Do you like strawberries? In winter, I dream about eating fresh, Polish strawberries, not the ones from a greenhouse. I’ve been dreaming about them recently and I’ve decided to make ones that can be used all year long. Beaded ones. Interested? Let’s do them!

Supplies used in this project:

Step 1

Prepare 60 cm long piece of thread and thread in the needle. It’s better to use a monofilament thread, because it won’t show, but I used a red thread for this tutorial.

String 5 red SD beads. Pass the needle through the very first bead and make a circle.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 2

Connect both ends and tie a knot. We’ve got a flower which will be the bottom of our strawberry.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Pass the needle through the top hole of the SD bead.

Step 1

Step 4

Add 1 SD each time in this step.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 5

As you have added the beads, pass the needle through them again so that the strawberry won’t be too loose.

Then, pass the needle through the top hole of one of the SD just added.

Step 1

Step 6

Now, the 3rd row in which you will add 2 SD each time.

Step 1

Step 7

And again, as you have completed this row, pass the needle through the beads once again pulling the thread tightly.

Step 1

Step 8

As you have pulled the thread, your work should look like a basket.

Step 1

Step 9

Pass the needle through the top hole of one of the SD beads and add 1 bead between the beads of the previous row each time (if you make this step twice, your strawberry will be bigger).

Step 1

Step 2

Step 10

And again, as you have completed this row, pass the needle through the beads once again.

Step 1

Step 11

Pass the needle through the top hole of one of the SD just added.

Step 1

Step 12

In this row, first green beads will be added. Start with the green SD bead, then a red one, a green one, a red one and continue adding the beads alternately until you have completed the whole row.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 13

And again, pass the needle through the beads once again.

Step 1

Step 14

Pass the needle through the top hole of one of the SD just added.

Step 1

Step 15

In this row, add 10 green beads. As you have completed the whole row, pass the needle through the top hole of SD.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Step 16

In this row, we need to reduce the number of beads according to the scheme:

R – Reduction

 R - DS – R – SD – R – SD – R – SD – R – SD

Note that you reduce the sequence above a green SD bead of the previous row, and you add a bead above a red one.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 17

Now we’ve got 5 beads in a row. Add 5 SD beads. Pull the thread and pass through the top hole. Here is the final stage.

Step 1

Step 18

Add 5 SD beads again.

Step 1

Step 19

This is how an almost finished strawberry should look like. It needs to be attached to something before you pull the thread for the last time.

Step 1

Step 20

Take your pins, a 10 mm bead and 8/0 TOHO beads. The number of TOHO depends on the length of the pin and the length of the “petiole” you want to have.

Step 1

Step 21

String 10 mm bead and then 8/0 TOHO.

Step 1

Step 22

Put the pin inside your strawberry and now you may pull the thread. Pass the needle around through the beads twice, secure the thread. Cut out the unneeded part of the thread.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 23

The strawberry is finished.

Do you know now how to make beaded SuperDuo strawberries?

Step 1

Step 24

I’ve made two strawberries myself – a bigger and a smaller one. I just need to attach them to a chain and it’s finished!
