Let's stitch!

Step 1

Cut a length of thread approx 1 metre long and thread 12 Superduos, go through them all again to form a circle and tie a knot, not too tightly. Sew through the next couple of Superduos and then step up to the top hole of 1 Superduo.

Step 2

Step 2

Having stepped up thread a seed bead and go through the next Superduo. Add 2 Superduos and thread through the next Superduo. Continue round the circle threading 1 seed bead and 2 Superduos until you are back at the beginning. Thread through the next Superduo and step up into the top hole.

Step 3

Step 3

Thread 3 seed beads and go through the next Superduo. Thread 2 Superduos  and thread through the next Superduo. As before continue round alternating adding 3 seed beads and 2 superduos until back at the start and step up.

Step 4

Step 4

Now go round the circle adding 5 seed beads and 2 Superduos until back at the start and step up as before

Step 1

Step 5

For the final round add 7 seed beads and 2 superduos, depending on the tension you may need to add 8 so as the web doesn't curl up. When back at the start of this round go through the superduos and continue through the 7 or 8 seed beads.

Step 6

Thread approx 10-15 seed beads or however, many you are happy with and then attach a spider charm, thread back through the seed beads and stitch through the superduos and seed beads until you reach the top two superduos. Create a loop with seed beads, then secure thread by stitching through beads and making little knots. Trim thread.

Alternatively create a little abstract spider bug by threading 2 black nib-bits through the long holes and securing with a couple of  knots so they sit back to back. Work seed beads around the nib-bits and then create 8 legs by exiting through the seed beads at appropriate intervals and threading 5 seed beads, skip the last one and thread back through the others to create a leg. The two legs/antenna at one end have three seed beads.
