The Anklet is back with a vengeance this summer! As always, the only limit is your imagination... and perhaps your choice of summer activities. Joanne has made this simple one with a hint of sparkle and gunmetal plated findings that she hopes might withstand a little paddle at the beach. Are you ready to follow her easy steps to make your own? let's Get Creative!

You can add all the items you need to your basket by clicking the box in the 'Products used' section above, or you can let your imagination run wild and choose your own materials from the links below. Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products List'.

Remember - our tutorials are for inspiration and learning purposes. They include links to the relevant categories for you to choose your own colour combinations and we positively encourage you to experiment with different shapes, sizes, finishes, composition and texture. Why not choose your own beads and colours to achieve something in your own style? Let your imagination run wild and make your dream jewellery.

Please note: We would not recommend the wearing of jewellery other than pure gold or sterling silver in the ocean. As with all our products, please allow sun cream, fake tan or other perfumes and cosmetics to fully dry before wearing your anklet.

Step 1

Sizing : As we are all different, it is important to measure your ankle before you begin. Take the full measurement of your ankle and add 25mm to allow for drape. The average size of an Anklet is 230mm. Adding an extender chain is a good idea if you are making to sell.

Following this tutorial without making size changes will give a finished anklet with a length of 300mm (excluding clasp and end charm).

Step 1

Step 2

If you are not using pre-cut chain, cut strips of 70mm using suitable wire cutting pliers.

Ensure all strips are the same length.

Joanne used 4 lengths of pre-cut extension chain. This made a finished anklet of 300mm in length.

Step 1

Step 3

Mount one of each size disc onto a small jumpring. Repeat 11 more times to make 12 little charms.

New beaders can find an excellent video tutorial on how to use jump rings HERE.

Step 1

Step 4

Add a bead cap and a 6mm bead to a headpin.

Trim the headpin to leave an approx. 10mm tail.

Step 1

Step 5

Bend the pin at 90degrees as close to the bead as possible.

Step 1

Step 6

Using round nose pliers, turn the 10mm tail into a loop. Repeat 6 more times to make 7 bead charms.

New beaders can find an excellent video tutorial on how to turn a loop HERE.

Step 1

Step 7

Using the jump rings and loop on the little charms just created, attach 1 disc charm, 1 bead charm and 1 disc charm to the middle link (7th) of one of the 70mm lengths of chain.

Repeat on 2 more of the lengths of chain.

Step 1

Step 8

On a larger jumpring, pick up 1 disc charm, 1 bead charm, 1 disc charm and the last link on 2 of the chains you have just embellished. Repeat.

On a larger jumpring, pick up 1 disc charm, 1 bead charm, 1 disc charm and the last link on a new 70mm length of chain and the 3 lengths already joined together.

Step 1

Step 9

Open the loop on the final bead charm and add it to the last length of chain added (the one that is not embellished).

Step 1

Step 10

Using wire cutters, cut the head of a headpin.

Step 1

Step 11

Turn a loop at one end.

Step 1

Step 12

Add a bead cap, a bead and a bead cap to the eyepin just made.

Step 1

Step 13

Bend the pin to 90 degrees as close to the bead cap as possible.

Step 1

Step 14

Turn a loop with the remaining length of pin.

Step 1

Step 15

Open one of the eyes and attach it to the open end of the anklet.

Step 1

Step 16

Attach a small jump ring to the other eye.

Step 1

Step 17

Using another small jump ring, attach a lobster claw.
