Learn how to make this gorgeous Seed Bead Floral Treasure Brooch by following the step by step instructions.
Working with a 12x16mm piece of felt, stitch on a large flower filigree. Bead around it with size 11 seed beads using four-six backstitch. You may need to adjust the count to suit the shape of the filigree flower. Position your smaller filigree flowers & a butterfly bead & repeat. Now add a bezel row inside each flower with size15 seed beads using four-two backstitch, adjusting the count if needed.
Embellish the centre of any plain filigree flowers using beads and pearls. When you are happy, cut the felt around the outer row of beads, being careful not to cut through any threads. Position your brooch back and stitch on to the back. Take another piece of felt and make holes so the brooch back fits through. Attach to this piece of felt using glue.
Trim the outer backing when dry. Bead a basic edge with size 8 seed beads using blanket stitch with an added bead, this will make sure the outer backing is securely attached. Next find the bottom centre bead of the beaded edge and count outwards for 5 beads either side. Keep this section clear for now.
Starting at one side of this clear section, add a pointed edge using 4 x size 11 and 1 x size 15 seed bead for each point. When you reach the top of the large flower, add pearls around the small flower then continue with the pointed edging. When you reach the section you set aside to keep clear, start a beaded fringe. Aim for the centre to be the longest part of the fringe, with shorter edges. I have added butterflies at the edges and centre and Swarovski sew on flowers to the rest. Add the flowers by stringing 5 x size 15 beads either side of the hole, then threading through the flower. Only thread back up the next bead after the 15s so the flower bead hangs facing forwards. Knot and stitch in your thread to finish.
