Firework Pendant

Step 1

Using around two metres of KO, thread your needle and tie the other end of the thread to the middle part of the charm slider leaving approximately a 10cm tail.
Holding the charm slider so that the flat side will be the back side of the pendant, bring your thread to the front and pick up 30 size 11 beads from one of the colours (pink, green or turquoise), then one size 11 silver bead.

Step 2

Skip the silver bead, then thread back through all of the coloured beads again so that your thread is coming out towards the back of the pendant.
Keeping your tension fairly loose so that the fringe of beads does not become rigid, wrap the thread around the middle part of the charm slider. The fringe should drape gently, but not show much thread.

Step 3

Slide your needle under the thread around the centre of the slider so that it is coming out towards the front. This is necessary to change which side of the centre bar you are adding the fringe; it also keeps the fringes secure and to the front of the pendant. Pick up 30 size 11 beads from one of the colours (pink, green or turquoise), then one size 11 silver bead.
Skip the silver bead, then thread back through all of the coloured beads again so that your thread is coming out towards the back of the pendant.

Step 4

Repeat steps 4-6, using all three colours of beads – pink, green and turquoise until you have around 18 strands of fringe, you may add more to get a more ‘full’ looking fire-work effect.
If you need to add more thread: Finish off your old thread, tie the end tail to the start tail, then thread them both under the loops of thread along the back of the pendant. To start a new thread, tie it on to the centre part of the charm slider as in step 1.

Step 5

When you are happy with your pendant, tie off your thread as described in step 8 and cut off the tails.
Take one of the heart bails and place it over the charm hanger on your pendant. Push the two sides of your bail together to secure it in place using firm finger pressure – you should not need pliers.

Step 6

Take the chain and thread the end without the clasp through the bail. Your Fireworks necklace is now complete!
