Rating:

Learn how to make this delicate jewellery set using Preciosa Karo beads and matching seed beads. Designed by Jill Renson.

  • Karo beads = K
  • Size 8 seed beads bronze = A
  • Size 11 seed beads rosaline = B
  • Size 11 seed beads ivory = C

Step 1

Cut an arm span (approx. 5’) of KO thread and condition it then thread a needle onto each end.

Step 2

Pick up; 1A, 1B, 1K, 1B, 1A, then go through the other hole of K, add 1B then go back through the first A.  Slide this to the centre of your thread.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

On one needle add; 2B, 1A, 2B, 1A, 1B, 1K, 1B, and 1A

Step 4

On the second needle add; 2B, 1A, 2B, now go through the 2nd A added in step 3, add 1B then through the other hole of the K added in step 3, add 1B and go through the last A added in step 3

Step 1

Step 5

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until your rope is approx. 22” -  I used 28 K as I have a fairly small wrist

Step 1

Step 6

On your last section instead of passing both needles the same way through the final A, pass the second needle back in the opposite direction.  Work back along your rope tying a couple of knots where the two sides meet then trim off your ends

Step 7

Cut another arm span of KO thread, condition it then thread a needle onto each end.  Pass one side through the last A added in step 6 and slide to the centre of the thread

Step 8

On needle 1 add; 2C, 1A, 2C then go through the next single A

Step 9

On needle 2 add; 2C, 1A,2 C on the other side of the K bead then through the same A as step 8

Step 10

On needle 1 add; 1C, 1K, 1C then go through the next single A, push your K bead between the 2B, 1A, 2B added earlier

Step 11

On needle 2 add 1C then through the K added in step 10, 1C and through the same A as in step 10

Step 12

Repeat steps 8 to 11 along the length of the rope.  Finish off as before by passing the second needle the other way through the last A, working back along your rope tying a couple of knots to secure and trim off the ends.

Step 13

Connect a jump ring to the A at each end of your rope; add the lobster clasp to one side. You can make earrings to match with just a few repeats - 3 or more depending on how long you like them.
