Connector Charm Necklace - Jewellery Making Tutorial

Part of the reason many of us begin to make our own jewellery is the love of all things unique. This necklace is super easy to make your own by changing the colour and shape of the beads, fan, tassel or charm.  You can also use more or less connections or chain to adjust the length of your finished piece.
You can, of course, follow the tutorial entirely and make the same necklace if you love it, but we encourage you to experiment and play with different sizes and shapes. It would look lovely if you add chain maille flowers (instructions for this can be found HERE) between the connectors instead of just a jump ring. You will need extra jump rings for this option - ST2610 is the findings set required plus lots of extra jump rings.

Most importantly, enjoy the creative process!

Materials required:
Findings Set - This contains ail the findings and chain needed (Eye Pins, Jump rings in 2 sizes and chain).
Tassel Charm - I chose a Fan
Semi Precious Beads - I chose a Faceted Agate Oval
Fire Polished Beads - I chose 3, 4 & 6mm
Surgical Steel Charms

Our tutorials are for inspiration and learning purposes. They include links to the relevant categories for you to choose your own colour combinations and we positively encourage you to experiment with different shapes, sizes, finishes, composition and texture. Why not choose your own beads and colours to achieve something in your own style? Let your imagination run wild and make your dream piece of jewellery.

Please note that the colours for the products illustrated in the image above may not match the 'Products List'.

If you are new to Jewellery making, you will find these videos to be very helpful for this tutorial.

Step 1

Using the eye pins from the findings set, make connectors with the Agate and Fire Polished Beads.
I made 20 connector 'charms' in the following patterns:

Step 2

Seperate the charms you have just made into 2 separate piles. Taking the fist pile, connect them all together using jump rings, alternating the size of jump ring as you go (bearing in mind that the smaller jump ring is more suitable for going through the hole on of the Surgical Steel Charms). Attach one end of each length to the Fan Tassel Charm.
This is the order I chose to connect mine together:

Step 3

You can of course choose to be Symmetrical as opposed to my Asymmetry. This is another way you can make it uniquely yours, should you choose to do so.

Finally, hold the necklace up to yourself and decide how long you want it to be. I wanted it long so I added 30cm of chain to my 68mm of connector charms using large jump rings. It is now ready to wear - no clasp is needed as it is easily large enough to go over your head.

Please do share with us your finished pieces in our Facebook Group. We would love to see how you did it Your Way <3
