TIPS: If you find it more comfortable to pass from front to back through the hoop then do so. It is important to be consistent and pass through in the same direction throughout. Tensions is also very important - keep it snug.

Step 1

Begin by threading your needle with approx. a metre of thread.

Tie the thread to the geometric base, leaving an approx. 6 inch tail for tying in.

Pick up 2 red beads. Holding these beads outside the base, pass the needle (from back to front) through the hoop and back up through the second bead just added.

It is important to ensure you pass the needle back through the bead as if the thread is going back on itself.

Push the beads flat so that they sit side by side with a bridge of thread between them.

Pick up a red bead. Pass the needle under the hoop (from back to front) and back up through the bead just added. Pull the thread until your newly added bead sits snugly against the first 2 beads added.

Repeat step 3 until you have filled the base with red beads (approx. 30 beads).

Pass up through the very fist bead added and down through the last to secure to the base.

Remove your thread from the needle and thread on the tai; left at the beginning.

Tie off the tail and secure your thread. Re-thread the working thread.

Pick up 2 orange beads. Pass under the thread bridge (from back to front) between the second and third beads on the base row.

Pass back up through the second orange bead just added.

Pick up 1 orange bead. Pass the needle under the next thread bridge and back up though the orange bead just added.

Continue to add orange beads in this manner until the circle is complete.

Pass up through the first orange bead added and down through the last orange bead added.

Pick up 2 yellow beads. Pass under the thread bridge (from back to front) between the second and third beads on the base row.

Pass back up through the second yellow bead just added.

Pick up 1 yellow bead. Pass the needle under the next thread bridge and back up though the yellow bead just added.

Continue to add yellow beads in this manner until the circle is complete.

Pass up through the first yellow bead added and down through the last yellow bead added.

Pick up a yellow crystal drop and 3 yellow seed beads.

Bypassing the 3 seed beads just added, pass back up through the yellow crystal drop and back through the yellow bead the thread is exiting from on the base.

Pass through the next yellow bead along and pick up an orange crystal drop and 3 orange seed beads.

Bypassing the 3 orange seed beads just added, pass back through the next yellow bead on the base.

Pass through the next yellow bead along on the base.

Pick up a red crystal drop and 3 red seed beads.

Bypassing the 3 red seed beads just added, pass back through the next yellow bead on the base.

Pass through the next yellow bead along on the base.

Following the bead path, pass through the yellow ring of beads until you exit opposite the orange crystal drop.

Pick up 3 yellow seed beads. Pass back down through the next yellow bead on the base.

Pass thought the 3 beads just added and the 2 directly underneath it as many times as your needle and thread will allow to add extra strength.

Tie off and secure the thread. Trim excess.

Using a second jump ring, attach the ring just added to an earring base.

Repeat all steps to create a second earring.
