Step 1

Cut 8 strands of S-Lon cord approx. 90cm long. Tie all the threads together in a knot in the centre. Thread on the Becharmed bead over the knot.

Step 2

Place the knot/bead through the centre of the Kumihimo braiding board. Let the ends dangle down.

Step 3

Set up the Kumihimo board for a normal 8 strand braid (one strand either side of each dot). If you haven't created an 8-strand braid before, click here to view our tutorial.

Step 4

Thread 12 seed beads onto four of the strands and place a bobbin on the end to keep in place. Making sure you have the seed bead strands at the top and bottom of the disc to create the spiral effect.

Step 5

Thread 12 chip beads onto four of the strands and place a bobbin on the end to keep in place. Make sure these strands sit on the left and righthand side of the disc.

Step 6

Start braiding, using each strand once without any beads to begin (this should sit inside your Becharmed bead). Now start adding your beads, adding a bead to every strand.

Step 7

Braid until you have used all the beads. Create 0.5-1cm unbeaded braid, then knot all the threads together.

Step 8

Place your beaded section down through the Kumihimo disk. Set up for braiding as before, threading on beads in the same way. Braid in the same way as the other side.

Step 9

You should now have 2 beaded sections with the Becharmed bead in the centre. Now measure 12cm of cord, cut to size and glue in the cord into the cord ends. Do the same for the opposite side and attach your toggle clasp using your jump rings.
