Step 1

A- Size 15 Seed Bead
B- 3mm Swarovski Crystal

Thread your needle with a metre of KO. Pick up 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A and 1B . Go through all of the beads again to form a circle and tie a double knot.

Step 2

Go through 1A, 1B and 1A on the base circle and pick up 7A. Skip 1B and 1A and pass through the next B and A on the base circle. Continue with this step until you have a 4 point star. Pass up through 4 beads of the star you thread is at the base of.

Step 3

Pick up 2A and pass through the 4th bead of the next point along. Repeat for the other 3 points. Add the rivoli (coloured side down) and pull tight. Pass through the sets of 2 just added and the 4th bead from the points in a circular motion. This will pull the cage tight and form a square at the back of the rivoli. Pass through all the beads in this square again, tying knots at regular intervals.

Step 4

Pass up though the left corner bead of the square just formed and two beads of the branch going towards the front of the rivoli. Pick up 2A and 1B and an earwire (ensuring the earwire is facing the right way and the loop is firmly closed) and back down through the 1B just added. Pick up 2A and pass through two beads of the right branch and a corner bead leading onto the square. Reinforce this step as many times as your bead holes will allow, tying knots at regular intervals. Trim excess thread.
