We are so happy to share with you this beautiful beaded bezel hair grip designed and made by the lovely Paula Robinson.

We love it when we receive designs from our audience and creative customers that have been inspired by our in-house designers projectsLearn how to make this beaded bezel hair accessory using seed beads, Swarovski Montee's & Bicones as well as beading foundation and a single oval Cabochon to complete the look. Paula is a keen beader and uses her knowledge of beading to learn and create lots of new and innovative designs. This gorgeous accessory would be perfect for pinning your hair back.

Step 1

Firstly, cut out an oblong shape piece of Sturdy Soutache beading foundation, ensuring that the shape is bigger than the size of hair grip you are making. Mark the centre with a cross using a ruler to measure and glue down using Fevi Kwik glue your choice of Cabochon only using a small amount. Leave overnight to fully dry.

Step 2

Now using a size 10 or 12 beading needle start adding a Peyote stitch around the outside of your Cabochon with size 11 and 15 seed beads to bezel the Cabochon.

Step 3

Once you have your Cabochon encased start marking out where you want your other beads to sit, having a sketch at the side of you is a good tip so you can work from that. Start cutting the shape you want for your hair grip and start stitching your size 6, 11 and 15 size round seed beads into place using KO thread. Working from the inside out either side of the Cabochon, Paula has added a row of each of the beads she has used and a straight line of Montees and Swarovski Bicones alternating between the two to create a pattern down the centre of either side of the Cabochon.

Step 4

Around the edge of the foundation stitch alternating size 11 and 15 seed beads in a pattern to neaten off the raw edge.

Step 5

On the back add a piece of felt to hide all the stitching on the back of your design with more Fevi glue again leaving overnight to full set and trim where necessary in the morning.

Step 6

On the back of the design now stitch or use the Fevi Kwik glue to attach one Barrette style hair clip and either start wearing if it is stitched or leave overnight if you used glue. You could also use some felt to cover the back of the clip using a simple embroidery stitch to ensure the clip is secured on the back.
