Skylight Bracelet

Hi Beaders,

To celebrate National Beading Week I decided to create this Swarovski sparkly blue skylight bracelet, using Swarovski bicones and faceted round beads.

Follow the step by step instructions below to create this bracelet, please note the design is based on a 6″ bracelet (including clasp) so you may wish to create a longer or shorter braid depending on your wrist size.

Step 1 – Cut 2x 50cm of illusion cord, attach onto your lobster clasp using a crimp bead. Now thread both cords through the round faceted bead in opposite directions.

Step 2 – Thread on one light sapphire bead onto the left hand cord and one dark indigo onto the right hand cord, now thread on one faceted round bead making sure the cords go in opposite directions. Repeat step 2, 6 times. You may want to continue braiding to create a larger bracelet.

Step 3 – Thread on one light sapphire bicone, one dark indigo bicone and another light sapphire bicone onto the left hand cord. Thread one dark indigo bicone, one light sapphire bicone and another dark indigo bicone onto the right hand cord. Thread on three round faceted beads onto both cords (opposite directions). Repeat this step.

Step 4 – Thread on one light sapphire bicone, one dark indigo bicone, one light sapphire bicone and another dark indigo bicone onto the left hand thread. Thread one dark indigo bicone, one light sapphire bicone, one dark indigo bicone and another light sapphire bicone onto the right hand thread. Thread on three round faceted beads onto both cords (opposite directions). Repeat step 3, 2 times and continue weaving (repeat step 2, 6 times)

Step 5 – Once you have reached your desired length attach a jump ring using your crimp bead.

Step 6 – To add the design in the centre of the bracelet cut 30cm of illusion cord, thread half of the cord through the round faceted beads (see image).

Step 7 – Thread three crystal clear bicones onto both cords and thread the left cord through the round faceted bicone and repeat on the other side (see image above).

Step 8 – Thread one crystal clear bicone, one dark indigo bicone and another crystal clear bicone onto the left hand thread. Thread one crystal clear bicone, one light sapphire and another crystal clear bicone onto your right hand thread. Then thread both cords through the round faceted beads.

Step 9 – Thread two crystal clear bicones, one light sapphire and two crystal clear bicones onto the left hand thread. Now thread two crystal clear bicones, one dark indigo bicone and two crystal clear bicones onto the right hand thread. Then thread both cords through the round faceted beads and repeat steps 8 and then 7.

Step 10 – To finish, thread the two cords (opposite directions) through the round faceted bead and tie the cords together to create a knot at the back of the design. You may wish to add a small amount of glue to the knot to make it more secure.

We would love to see what you have made during the National Beading Week by sharing your photos on the Beads Direct Facebook page. Happy Beading!
