The Olympic games are in full swing and team Great Britain are storming ahead, winning a record breaking number of medals this weekend to take 2nd place in table! For this week’s Mini Make I’ve been inspired by our Olympic champions to create a jewellery design based on the Olympic logo that represents the 5 world continents – Africa, Asia, America, Europe and Australia. Originally I planned to make the different coloured rings using seed beaded loops, but then I found the super sparkly gold plated crystal rings which are PERFECT. Plus it can be worn two ways! If you don’t want it to look too blingy, turn the necklace over to show the textured gold of the back of the crystals rings. Either way, I think it’s a winner 😉
Gold plated clear crystal ring 21mm x5 (CR862)
Gold plated iron jumprings 6mm 0.8mm thick (F0215)
Gold plated steel chain 2x3mm (CH236) OR Gold plated sterling silver 925 connector chain necklace (SS296)
For this necklace to sit properly the chain length needs to be quite short, I so suggest a 16-18″ length but you can adapt it to your preference.
To make your necklace cut two pieces of chain 8 inches long and on one piece attach a jumpring to either end and a jumpring and a lobster clasp to the other. Connect the gold crystal rings together as pictured using your jump rings and attach the two pieces of chain either side of the outer rings. It’s as simple as that! Are you enjoying the olympics?
