Hi Beaders, today I would like to inspire you with my Blue Shimmer Pearl Necklace. I just love the shimmer of the petrol blue shells beads and I thought they would look great with our new Swarovski pastel pearls.
What you will need:
5810 Swarovski Glass Pearls 8mm Crystal Pastel Blue Pk25 HH292 x2
Petrol Blue Shell Pearl Beads Round 6mm 16″ Strand EX3920 x2
Wire beading flexible Beadalon 7 strand .015 dia. “bright” 30′ W114
Antique Silver Lobster Clasp 10x18mm Pack 2 F850
Petrol Blue Shell Pearl Beads Round 4mm 15.5″ Strand EX3909 x3
Chain extension silver-plated 4mm wide x 57.1mm long w/ teardrop F200
Silver Antique Brass Jumpring 5mm Pack 20 F834
Tip – Before you start, you will need to clear the holes of the pearls using a headpin to allow the cord to pass through.
Step 1 – Cut 2x 2.5 metres of wire and attach both strands to the lobster clasp using a crimp bead.
Step 2 – Thread on one 4mm pearl onto each strand and then thread on one 4mm pearl onto both strands making sure the cords go in to the hole in opposite directions.
Step 3 – Thread on three 4mm pearls and one 10mm pearl onto the left hand cord. Thread the end of the cord back through the three 4mm pearls on the cord and pull the cord tight. Now thread three 4mm pearls onto the right hand cord, thread the cord up through the 10mm pearl and back through the three 4mm pearls. Pull the cord tight.
Step 4 – Thread one 4mm pearl onto both strands making sure the cords go in to the hole in opposite directions.
Step 5 – Repeat step 3 and 4 until you have reached your desired length. Attach the ends onto a jump ring using a crimp bead and then attach your jump ring onto your extension chain.
Step 7 – To make the drape affect, cut 1 metre of cord and attach this to the end of the necklace using a crimp bead. Thread the cord through the first three 4mm pearls and then add five 6mm pearls onto the cord. Continue until you have reached the end of your necklace and attach the end of the cord using a crimp bead.
Step 8 – To create the extra drape at the front of the necklace, cut 20cm of cord tie a double knot at one end and thread the cord through one 6mm pearl. Thread eight 6mm pearls onto the cord, then through another 6mm pearl to secure it onto the necklace and tie a knot.
I would love to hear your thoughts of this necklace and if you do make your own I would love to see it.
