Sky Blue Bracelets | Mini-Make Monday

Today’s Mini-Make are these beautiful Sky Blue bracelets, using aqua blue jade beads and a stunning rose gold angel wing charm. Blue is my favourite colour and I couldn’t resist the beautiful tones of these semi-precious aqua blue jade tones. I used rose gold with the blue tones as it works really well together, it also matches with my rose gold watch which is a bonus. You could also try creating this design using silver coloured components. I hope you like this week’s Mini-Make.

Project Materials

1x Dyed Aqua Blue Jade Semi-Precious Round Beads 6mm 15″ Strand (EX278)
1x Toho size 11 Round Seed Beads Silver-Lined Rosaline 10g (11TR31)
1x Rose Gold Plated Brass Hollow Angel Wing Charm 7x15mm (CR450)
1x Stretch Magic Elastic Bead Cord 0.5mm Clear (TC381)
1x Rose Gold Plated Brass Jump Rings 4.5mm 0.8mm gauge pk100 (F0101)

ORDER ALL MATERIALS

Tutorial

Cut 1x 30cm of 0.5mm elastic, thread on 26 aqua jade beads to create a 6.5″ bracelet. Link three jump rings together, attach the wing charm and thread onto the elastic. This will create a 6.5″ bracelet.

Tie a double knot to secure your bracelet, you may want to place a small amount of glue or nail varnish onto the knot.

Cut 1x 30cm of 0.5mm elastic cord, thread on one seed bead and one aqua jade and continue until you have placed 23 aqua jade beads and 22 seed beads. This will create a 6.5″ bracelet. Finish this bracelet as above.

Goodbye For Now

Hi everyone,

On Thursday 2nd February I will be leaving the lovely bunch of people at Beads Direct to start my maternity leave! I have worked for BD for over 8 years and everyone here is like family to me. My role as Customer Service Manager means that if you have ever phoned BD, you have no doubt spoken to me!

When I joined BD I didn’t know anything about jewellery making but soon got into making Shamballa Fashion bracelets and I was addicted to Kumihimo (I still am). Below are some of my favourite makes:

3Here are some photos that highlight some of my favourite moments during my time at Beads Direct, some of which you may remember!

I really have had the most amazing time here at BD, I want to thank everyone for all their support and making my time here so enjoyable (both beady customers and BD colleagues).

I’m sure I will be visiting the office throughout the year so I will say goodbye for now.

Take care,

Swarovski Spike Necklace | Mini-Make Monday

When we received stock of the Swarovski Spike pendant, I knew I wanted to create a design using it, it is such a stunning pendant. The pendant has the Patina affect that gives it an antique look, which I love. I mixed this pendant with sterling silver findings to make it that extra special design.

PROJECT MATERIALS

6480 Swarovski Crystal Spike Pendant 39mm Crystal Rose Patina (AC1656)

Sterling Silver 925 Tube Bead with Loop 3x20mm (SS381)

Sterling Silver 925 Ball Chain Diamond Cut with Clasp 1mm (SS401)

Sterling Silver 925 Triangle Jumpring/Bail 1.2x14mm (SS320)

Sterling Silver 925 Jump Rings 0.9x6mm (SS180)

ORDER ALL THESE MATERIALS HERE

Follow the steps and images below to make your sparkling Swarovski necklace.leahs3

1. With your flat nose pliers, gently flatten the loop of the sterling silver chain. This is so that you can thread the sterling silver bail onto the chain.

2. Thread your bail onto the chain and attach a jump ring onto the end of the flattened loop

3. Now attach your triangle bail to the sterling silver bail and onto the Swarovski pendant.

Your necklace is now ready to wear, or even give it to that someone special. I hope you like my Mini Make.

Take Care,

Love

FP WINE

Mulled Wine Bracelet

Hi Beaders,

Now that the festive season is approaching, I wanted to create something that adds that extra sparkle to any outfit. The NEW Swarovski Patina crystals are stunning and work really well with the rose gold findings I have used along with our maroon rattail. I just love Kumihimo 🙂

Click here to see all the materials used for this design.

To make this bracelet I created the clasp part of the bracelet first, start with attaching your connectors to your clasp and cord ends using your jump rings.

Add the two Swarovski Patina Hearts to one end of the bracelet using jump rings.

Now for the Kumihimo braid, if you have not created this braid before, please click here to view a tutorial on how to create a Kumihimo braid.

Cut 8 strands of cord measuring three times the length in which you want your bracelet to be. Once you have finished braiding, cut to size and glue the cord into your cord ends.

I would love to hear if this design has inspired you and whether you will be creating this mulled wine bracelet for yourself or for someone special at Christmas.

Love

Leah Xx

Blissful Blue Bracelets

Hi Beaders,

I would like to share my recent make with you called Blissful Blue bracelets, using our NEW shiny coated braiding cord finished off with an infinity charm. I just love the new shiny cord and thought that these three colours would work really well together. Click here to view our new range of shiny coated braiding cord and you could make your own bracelets using your favourite colour.

Click here to view all the materials you need to make this design.

Step 1 – To make the plait cut approximately 30cm of all three coloured cords and secure the ends into one end of the clasp with glue. Start creating a plait with the three cords until you have reached your desired length (design length 7”) and glue the ends of the cords in to the other end of your clasp.

Step 2 – Now cut 15cm of the cream cord and 15cm of the light blue cord, fold in half and loop both cords through the infinity charm either side (see image). Glue each ends into your clasp.

Step 3 – To finish your bracelet repeat step 1.

Macramé Bracelet

Step 1 – To create the macramé braid cut 30cm of cream cord and 30cm of blue cord. Fold the cords in half and attach to your infinity charm.

Step 2 – Cut another 30cm of cream and blue cord and start braiding onto the cord creating your square knots. Finish until you have reached your desired length, make sure you leave room for your sliding knot. Cut any excess cord and glue into place.

Step 3 – Cut 30cm of your light blue cord and create a sliding knot. Cut any excess cord and glue into place. Knot the ends of the cord you have created the sliding knot onto.

IMG_9727

Step 9 – Thread two crystal clear bicones, one light sapphire and two crystal clear bicones onto the left hand thread. Now thread two crystal clear bicones, one dark indigo bicone and two crystal clear bicones onto the right hand thread. Then thread both cords through the round faceted beads and repeat steps 8 and then 7.

Step 10 – To finish, thread the two cords (opposite directions) through the round faceted bead and tie the cords together to create a knot at the back of the design. You may wish to add a small amount of glue to the knot to make it more secure.

We would love to see what you have made during the National Beading Week by sharing your photos on the Beads Direct Facebook page. Happy Beading!
