New SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS Innovations Fall/Winter 2012/13 – Colours

Swarovski innovations

Twice a year, Swarovski announce new SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, known as Innovations. They are new pieces added to the range of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS to reflect the trends forecast for jewellery and fashion almost a year ahead.

There are usually at least 2 new trend colours, sometimes a new pearl colour and also some new bead and pendant shapes. Here at Beads Direct, as a direct Swarovski supplier we’re lucky enough to attend presentation events to help us to understand the new trends and Innovations. I want to share a little bit of what we learned with you today. Don’t forget to check out the Innovations on the Beads Direct website.

SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS FALL/WINTER 2012/13 INNOVATIONS ECHO THE CITY BEAT

This season’s Innovations are based around finding beauty in an urban way of life. The trends are based around 5 key cities that represent each trend theme.

New Colours and Effects:

The new colour for this season is Denim Blue. It is practical, sophisticated, understated and unisex, and of course goes perfectly when you’re wearing denim! This is ideal for those of us who live in our jeans and want to add some extra sparkle to our outfit. A colour goes all the way through the crystal, so if you cut open a Denim Blue crystal it would still be blue inside.

Crystal Antique Pink is a new effect. An effect is something that is applied to a clear crystal after it has been formed, so if you cut open a Crystal Antique Pink bead it would be clear inside. Crystal Antique Pink is romantic, and echos the 1950s. A stylish and vintage shade of pink, this is a grown-up feminine shade.

Crystal Petrol Pearl is a pearl inspired by a peacock’s feather. It is a gorgeous, strong and magical blue. It also works well with Denim Blue and your denim outfits! Get your jeans out! How about some double denim outfits to match our lovely spangly new designs…?

So how do we use these new colours? Swarovski have picked out 5 cities to represent upcoming trends and these new colours are incorporated with other SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS to create the trends. I have chosen 3 of these cities to look at in more detail below.

Istanbul: Glamorous, extravagant and bejewelled, Istanbul is a place of rich colour and beauty. Mix the new blue shades with deep pinks like Indian Pink and Ruby, reds like Dark Red Coral and gold to create this opulent effect. Shapes are smooth, think round, droplet and oval.

Copenhagan: Think manual labour and cargo trousers with thick knits, but in a very stylish way! Hard work is now the stuff of heroes, as we all realise we have to get our hands dirty following the recession. Mix colours like Olivine and bronze tones with Denim Blue, Crystal Bermuda Blue and Montana to create this effect. Shapes are irregular and angular.

Shanghai: Romance and nature are highlighted through Shanghai. Think of oriental flowers, bamboo and delicate jewellery. Mix new Crystal Antique Pink and Crystal Petrol Pearl with Crystal Golden Shadow, Siam and Jet Nut. Shapes also draw on nature, like Flower Beads or Filigree Flowers and leaf shapes.

I’ll update you on the new shapes soon! Don’t forget we currently have 25% OFF all our SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS for a limited time only!
