Meet the Beads Direct Team | Basia Rempelt |

Basia Rempelt

Role at Beads Direct: Marketing Assistant

Time at Beads Direct: 4.5 years
Now it’s time to find out about our roving reporter Basia, she couldn’t escape by staying behind the mic so I’ve cornered her…. but this is my last opportunity…..

So Basia, do you make jewellery?
Not too often. I prefer taking photos of the things girls at Beads Direct make.
You actually make some beautiful things, but you are very modest. We know you’re really creative! How about your favourite colour, do I really need to ask?
BLUE! There are no other colours.
And what’s your favourite bead?
Any blue beads! And I love all the sparkly shamballa style beads!
Should have guessed about the blue ones! So tell us Basia, when did you start working for BD?
I started working at Beads Direct part-time, in 2007. I did picking and packing, and whatever Joanne told me to.
You were still studying at uni at this time weren’t you? That must have been hard work. So what happened next?
After about two years Claire stole me from Jo to help with photography and design. They had a fight in the warehouse over where I should stay and Claire won! Or was I imagining this? Haha
Hmmm sorry Jo she’s just so talented, but I promise I didn’t throw any punches to get her! I seem to remember you came willingly Bas! Your job is very creative, what do you do on a daily basis?
I usually start the day with a cup of tea! And believe me, I’m not the only one here who cannot survive a day without it.
ermmm…..?!
When we have a delivery of new beads I hide in the photo room and don’t leave it until I’m done photographing them. When all the beads are photographed and on the website, I design our brochures and some other bits that are supposed to encourage you to spend all your money on beading ;)
Being modest again I think! You have worked extremely hard on our recent catalogues and adverts, and filmed for youtube, loaded lots of inspiring things on to the website gallery….But what’s your favourite thing about working for BD?
The best part is that I do what I like and enjoy coming to work every day. And our team of course! I’d share my last piece of cake with them! …I hope they won’t read this post!
We’ll know where to come to now! What’s your favourite piece of jewellery?
I have many favourite pieces, but they’re usually made by somebody else. Most of my favourites are on our account on Flickr. If I had to choose a design I made (idea stolen from Hazel), it would be the shamballa style bracelet. I love it and wear it almost all the time!

We’d like to take the chance to thank Basia for her hard work through the years and for always being a positive, friendly and fun member of the team.

We wish you the best of luck for your future in Poland, keep in touch Basia! xxx
